Theme: Sharing, co-operation and rivalry (p.126)

  1. Teammate (n.): a member of the same team or group as yourself

    e.g.
    We should not ride roughshod (一意孤行) over other’s opinions when working in a team. Instead, learning to play ball (合作) with your teammates (隊友) is the key to success.

  2. Transform (v.): to change the form of something

    e.g.
    When conducting (進行) scientific research (科學研究), ingenious (靈巧的) scientists will transform (轉換) a difficulty into an opportunity.

  3. Trust (v.): to believe that somebody is good, sincere, honest, etc.

    e.g.
    When doing extreme sports like skydiving (跳傘), we need to trust (相信) our partners because it is a matter of life and death (生死攸關的事).

  4. Trust fall (n. phr.): an activity in which a person deliberately falls, trusting the members of a group to catch them

    e.g.
    The game trust fall (信任跌落) can inspire (激勵) all members in a group to cooperate sincerely (真誠地) and strive (奮力) towards a goal together.

  5. Baton (n.): a stick that is passed from one runner to another in a relay race

    e.g.
    Relay race is a test of individual (個人的) running ability and teamwork (團隊協作). How to use the shortest time to successfully hand over (交接) the baton (接力棒) is also worth learning.
