Theme: Precious things (p.175)

  1. Maestro (n.): a skilled and well-known musician or conductor

    e.g.
    A famous singer-songwriter (創作歌手) and a maestro (音樂大師) have collaborated (合作) on an album, which has been streamed (收聽) more than a hundred million times since its release (發佈).

  2. Talented (adj.): able or skilful

    e.g.
    The talented (有天賦的) figure skater (花式滑冰運動員) rose to the challenge and executed (完成) a move that amazed all the spectators (觀眾).

  3. Valuable (adj.): very useful or important

    e.g.
    It was a valuable (寶貴的) experience (經歷) for the new singer to stand on the international stage with his predecessors (前輩) for the first time.

  4. Priceless (adj.): extremely valuable or important

    e.g.
    Although the couple are not rich, they think that knowledge is priceless (無價的) and it is worthwhile (值得的) to send their children to a good school.

  5. Treasure (n.): very valuable things

    e.g.
    In the eyes of the disabled (殘疾的) child, the multifunctional (多功能的) seat made by his father is his treasure (寶貴之物).

  6. Master (n.): a person who is very skilled in a particular job or activity

    e.g.
    Vincent van Gogh, a Dutch (荷蘭的) master (大師) of post-impressionism (後印象派) art, left behind (留下) remarkable (非凡的) paintings such as Sunflowers and the Starry Nights.

  7. Craftsman (n.): a person with a special skill, especially one who makes beautiful things by hand

    e.g.
    That town is home to a large number of craftsmen (匠人) who produce first-class (一流的) ceramics (陶瓷製品).

  8. Replacement (n.): someone or something that replaces another person or thing

    e.g.
    We cannot find any replacement (代替品) for the broken crystal (水晶) lamp which was made at great cost in the palace (宮殿).

  9. Surreal (adj.): very strange; more like a dream than reality

    e.g.
    Although going into space (太空) might have seemed surreal (超現實的) to people in the past, scientists have proved that it is possible through their unremitting (不懈的) efforts.
