Theme: Precious things (p.161)

  1. Antique (n.): an old object that is valuable because of its beauty or rarity

    e.g.
    During the explorations (探索), the experts (專家) discovered some antiques (古物) buried (埋藏) in this wasteland (荒地).

  2. Showcase (v.): to display or present something

    e.g.
    The billionaire (億萬富翁) bought the works (作品) of an ancient (古代的) poet (詩人) and planned to showcase (展出) them.

  3. Precious (adj.): of great value because of being rare, expensive, or important

    e.g.
    The thick photo album (相簿) is precious (珍貴的) for the little girl because it is the only thing her mum left (遺留) for her.

  4. Ancient (adj.): belonging to the distant past

    e.g.
    The carvings (雕刻) on the ancient (古代的) Roman pillars (柱子) give a lot of artists inspiration (靈感).

  5. Collection (n.): a group of objects of one type that have been collected by one person or in one place

    e.g.
    The curator (館長) of the gallery is introducing the types (種類) and uses (用途) of the collections (收藏品) to the visitors.

  6. Buff (n.): someone who knows a lot about a particular subject

    e.g.
    The man is a computer buff (愛好者). He likes to collect computer parts (零件) and knows a lot about them.
