Ice Cream

There are many stories about the invention of ice cream cones in the United States.

At the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904, an ice cream seller, Charles Menches, did not have enough small cups to serve his ice cream. A man selling waffles was beside him. He helped Menches by making him waffle cones.

Another story is that ice cream cones had been sold well before the World’s Fair. Italo Marchiony, a New York ice cream seller, wanted to stop people from breaking or taking away his serving glasses. Therefore, he thought of using waffle cone-like cups to sever his ice cream.

No one knows which story is true, but these are two of the most popular ones. Which one do you think is true?
